Aion is a massively multiplayer online role playing game (MMORPG) that incorporates PvPvE gameplay, meaning that Player versus Player and Player versus Environment action are both very basic parts of how the game is played.
However, if you are not interested in fighting with other player characters directly, there are options still available to you!
In the beginning of the game, your character will be able to advance in a PvE-only environment (such as Poeta (Elyos) or Ishalgen (Asmodian) until your character is Level 20.
Once your character has left the starting areas, you will be able to access the PvPvE zones. The PvPvE content can be found in the Abyss, and the following areas where rifts appear: Heiron (Elyos) and Beluslan (Asmodian). To avoid PvP encounters, you can level your character inside instanced zones or in the following higher-level PvE zones: Cygnea (for Elyos characters) and Enshar (for Asmodians).
You might want to keep your PvP gameplay to a minimum, but it is still a risk when playing in PvPvE areas. Here are some suggestions on how to handle some of the PvP situations you might encounter:
- Hunt in a party. There is strength in numbers! This should protect you from the lone person of the opposite faction looking for an easy kill.
- Run!There are many ways for players to escape unwanted combat, especially in the Abyss where one can fly to safety. Health potions and running/flying speed scrolls will also help you live to fight another day.
- Call for help. You can use the Region Chat channel to notify other players when you see an enemy nearby. You can also hold CTRL and click the right mouse button on the World Map to put a marker exactly where the enemy has been spotted. This will often lead to strong members of your faction coming to the rescue and scaring the opposite faction away.
Watch the chat channels. The LFG and Region chat channels to watch for other players posting enemy locations so you can try to avoid those areas.
